Ceylon Trails uses your device's GPS location to automatically trigger audio narration as you approach points of interest during a tour. Location data is processed locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers or stored beyond the active tour session.
Device Information
We collect basic device information including device type, operating system version, and a unique device identifier. This is used to authenticate your device and manage your purchased tours.
Purchase Information
Tour purchases are processed entirely through Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iOS). We do not collect or store your payment card details. We receive a confirmation of purchase from the relevant store to unlock your tour content.
Usage Analytics
We collect anonymised usage data such as which tours are started, completed, and downloaded. This helps us improve the app experience. No personally identifiable information is included in analytics data.

If you contact us by email, we retain that correspondence to respond to your query.

- Service providers: We use DigitalOcean for server infrastructure. Data is stored securely on servers within their network.
- App stores: Google Play and Apple App Store process purchases on our behalf under their own privacy policies.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
4. Data Storage & Security
Tour audio and map data downloaded for offline use is stored locally on your device. You can remove this data at any time by uninstalling the app or using the in-app download management feature.
Server-side data (device records, purchase confirmations, analytics) is stored on secured servers. We use industry-standard measures to protect your data against unauthorised access.
We retain device and purchase records for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You may request deletion of your data by contacting us at [email protected].
5. Children's Privacy
Ceylon Trails is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
6. Terms of Use
Licence
When you purchase a tour, you are granted a personal, non-transferable licence to access that tour's audio content on your registered device. You may not reproduce, redistribute, or resell tour content.
Purchases & Refunds
All tour purchases are processed through Google Play or the App Store. Refund requests are subject to the refund policies of the respective store. Ceylon Trails does not directly process refunds.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app. You agree not to use the app for any unlawful purpose.
Disclaimer
Ceylon Trails provides heritage information for educational and entertainment purposes. While we strive for accuracy, we make no warranty regarding the completeness or accuracy of tour content. Always follow local rules and regulations at heritage sites.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Double A² shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.
7. Cookies
The Ceylon Trails mobile app does not use cookies. The Ceylon Trails website (ceylon-trail.com) uses only essential cookies required for basic site functionality. No tracking or advertising cookies are used.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
